These kids are great and I couldn’t be more proud to be in front of them.
I was showing my students some beats I played in high school. I messed up the last one, but it’s been about four+ years so cut me some slack.
Oh man, band camps have been intense.
Because I don’t want to lose my weekly income, I’ve continued to work my normal shifts at my daytime job as I teach band camp at both high schools I work for.
It’s rough. Waking up at 4/5am on most days, getting off around noon, then heading straight to all day camps is exhausting. I haven’t had decent sleep in awhile. I know it’s worth it, but I’m pretty tired.
Wish I hadn’t given up coffee for a month…
I click sticks on my down time.
I was cleaning out my old desk when I came across this Walmart receipt. It’s from 2012 when we made a Walmart run on tour while in Iowa. I remember the feeling of relief when I finally bought a pillow after suffering about two weeks without one. I also remember Oreos being my most cherished snack on the bus. This was certainly a piece of nostalgia.
It’s too bad I couldn’t have done this more than once.
Well, at least I never had to go back to Iowa. Iowa sucks.
