Day one of Blue Devils auditions.
They are pretty intense, but I really enjoy the vibe and rehearsal structure that they set.
I was like the fourth snare to do my individual audition. I wasn’t one bit nervous until I started playing this buck pattern my auditioner had me play. That’s what really screwed over my decent individual audition, but at least I impressed him with other things.
I’ll admit that I am very upset with myself for not being aggressive and trying to get myself noticed in the line setting. Tomorrow I want to make a way better impression.
I need to step up my game and get noticed.
Last week of marching band with Leigh. I’ve had the privilege of being one of their drum techs this season along side a fantastic staff. I’m very thankful to be apart of such a group and to be given such an opportunity.
Now for winter percussion. I’m TOO stoked for this ensemble. Dayton is NOT ready for us.
Last week of the marching band season. See you all in Fresno this weekend.
Annadiddle’s Lick of the Week
Vanguard Winter Percussion 2014…
We pretty much officially set the line. Also, our new design staff was around today to give us their input. Basically, we got our butts handed to us. Haha. They whooped us pretty hard in the visual audition but I liked it. I had a pretty hard time being out of shape and such, but I plan on changing that starting tomorrow.
My favorite part of the day was drumming with Paul Rennick. I honestly learned so much about playing clean just from a couple hours under his instruction. He knows what he’s doing and he knows how to make a good line. I’m excited to continue working with him the rest of the season.
Can’t wait for the next camp.
